Laya
Premiered during Liminal 2026, a triple bill platform featuring mid-career artistes by the Human Expression Dance Company.
Laya, which means freedom in Tagalog, explores the tension between desire and consequence.
The silhouettes of the costumes evolve as the characters undergo symbolic and physical transformation on stage. For example, the ‘orb jumpsuit’ that is worn on stage demonstrates the character’s transformation from a state of innocence to a state of passion.
